Program Overview
Riverbend helps scouts build an active appreciation for nature through badge programs, service days, and overnights spent right here at our center. Whatever your troop or pack is working toward, we're glad to help scouts get outside and get their hands dirty along the way.
Badge Projects
Every age group has a nature-based path toward their next badge, built around hands-on outdoor learning.
Girl Scouts
Girl Scouts is all about problem solving, healthy relationships, and building a strong sense of self. Riverbend offers hands-on, nature-based STEM programs designed to help troops have fun while completing badge requirements, from Daisies all the way up through Cadettes.
Our programs are built to give Daisies and Brownies a joyful first experience in nature. Making s'mores, learning recycling basics, and spotting a frog at our pond are all part of the fun.
Daisies & Brownies
Juniors build confidence through exploration, learning about the outdoors through wildlife study, identification, and nature crafts. Cadettes sharpen their skills in outdoor leadership as they grow into environmental and community leaders.
Juniors & Cadets
Through Riverbend's programs, Cub Scouts learn about the wonders of nature and about themselves. Team-building exercises, games, hands-on field studies, and nature crafts help scouts reach their adventure goals, and we're glad to assist with core requirements or elective adventures.
Cub Scouts / Scouts BSA
Lion Cubs build foundational hiking safety and preparedness skills while exploring the preserve on a nature hike.
Tiger Cubs roll over logs and examine pond life, sparking curiosity about the natural world.
Wolf Cubs practice trail navigation and wayfinding skills out on the preserve.
Bear Cubs investigate the habitats of local wildlife, study plants up close, hike the preserve, and observe the wild animals that call Riverbend home.
Webelos can work toward core rank requirements through activities like tree identification, ecosystem study, and wildlife observation.
Program Options & Pricing
Every option below is available to Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, and Scouts BSA troops. Tap a program to see what's included.
2 hours, $300 for up to 20 scouts
Our staff lead a two-hour, hands-on badge workshop tailored to your troop or pack's requirements. Perfect for a single afternoon visit focused on badge or adventure work.
2.5 hours, $350 for up to 20 scouts
Riverbend staff lead your scouts on a safe, educational night hike that may include wildlife observation and sensory experiences. Afterward, gather your group for skits, storytelling, and songs while toasting marshmallows over the fire.
6pm–9am, $600 for up to 20 scouts
Spend the night in our fully refurbished 1923 Snider Barn. Your group can roast marshmallows around a campfire and opt into a night hike or badge work. For the especially adventurous, we also offer tent-camping in our field. Please note that Riverbend does not provide food or camping equipment.

Give back to nature alongside your troop or pack. Plantings, vine removal, and trail maintenance are a few of the ways scouts can pitch in toward our ongoing preservation efforts. Please email Ayla Moulder-Tyler for scheduling and details.
Awards & Eagle Projects
Riverbend welcomes the opportunity to discuss service projects with scouts working toward Girl Scout Bronze, Silver, and Gold Awards, as well as Boy Scouts pursuing Eagle Scout rank.

Leave No Trace
Riverbend is a proud partner of Leave No Trace, a nonprofit providing education, training, and outreach in more than 100 countries around the globe. Every one of our scout programs includes instruction in the Leave No Trace Seven Principles, practices that guide sustainable, respectful, and responsible outdoor experiences. These principles are used by major forces in environmental education, including the National Park Service, Bureau of Land Management, USDA Forest Service, and US Fish and Wildlife Service.
