A nature-based program for children ages 2-5 and their caregivers.
Program Overview
Get ready for hands-on, nature-filled fun for our littlest explorers! Join Riverbend educator Felicia Acconciamessa for a preschool-friendly, nature-based program featuring a story, art, nature activity, and a "hike" around Natural Lands' Stoneleigh: A Natural Garden or Natural Lands' Saunders Woods Preserve. While Riverbend's barn undergoes renovations this fall, we're excited to host Budding Naturalists at these partner locations.
Who It's For
Designed for children ages 2-5, accompanied by a caregiver.
Siblings under 2 are welcome at no additional charge.

Starting October 14th at Natural Lands’ Stoneleigh: A Natural Garden
Classes run through December 9th, 10th, and 11th. There will be no class November 25th, 26th, or 27th. Inclement weather make-up dates are reserved for the third week of December.

What We'll Explore This Season
Budding Naturalists is all about joyful, hands-on, nature-based learning for our youngest explorers and their caregivers.
This season, we'll:

Hunt for colorful leaves and discover why they change

Observe migrating birds with our looking eyes and listening ears

Explore pumpkins inside and out

Search for spiders and their incredible webs

Collect seeds, acorns, and other nature treasures while learning how plants prepare for winter

Learn how animals prepare for the colder months

Enjoy special animal encounters with our Animal Ambassadors
We'll wrap up the season with a celebration during Week 8! Each week is a new adventure, helping your little one grow curiosity and confidence while you connect with other caregivers in a relaxed, supportive, nature-filled setting.
What We'll Explore This Season
Pricing & Registration
$175 per child for the eight-week session. Siblings under two are free. Enrollment is capped at 12 participants per session, and spots fill quickly, so secure your place early. Registration for Fall 2026 opens September 2, 2026.
