Program Overview
A Pollinator Garden is an intentional planted space that creates habitat for and attracts native insects, birds, and other animals that improve the health of an ecosystem

In the fall of 2025, Peter Grove and Nancy Greene reached out to Riverbend with an offer. Peter and Nancy are lifelong gardeners and are community leaders in Lower Merion and Narberth. The pair offered to provide financial support for Riverbend to run a program to energize community members to get planting native. Our goal is to recruit volunteers willing to plant and maintain these gardens for at least 10 years, a huge gift to the Earth!

To get the gardens started, Riverbend will provide each participating volunteer group an average of $350 of plants for their garden, and expert guidance on selecting plants and developing a maintenance schedule. Gardening expertise provided by Wild About Native Plants.

The Mission Behind Peter's Pollinators
Plant gardens across Lower Merion and Narberth that will last ten years and beyond, to provide safe havens for native pollinators to thrive. To inspire our community to move beyond a grass lawn, and to appreciate the value of native plants.
