Honduran milk snake
Animal Ambassador
Name: Flame
Species: Honduran Milk Snake (Lampropeltis triangulum hondurensis)
Hired: 1998 (and still slithering strong!)
About Me:
I might look fiery, but I’m all charm and no venom. I hail from the tropical forests of Honduras, Nicaragua, and Costa Rica—think warm breezes, leafy hideouts, and plenty of snacks scurrying by. These days, I call Riverbend home, where I enjoy the good life (and regular meals of mice).
Fun (and Slightly Spicy) Facts:
I’m a world-class constrictor—no venom needed when you’ve got moves like these.
My favorite meal? Other snakes. Yep, I’m a bit of a cannibal. Don’t judge.
My vibrant red, black, and yellow stripes make me a coral snake lookalike—but remember: red on black, friend of Jack!
I’ve outlived my wild cousins—average lifespan 15–20 years—and I’m still looking fabulous at 27.
I’m part of the colubrid family, the biggest snake family in the world (because of course I am).
Favorite Hideout:
Under a cozy log or stump—preferably somewhere humid and dramatic.
Claim to Fame:
One of the most popular and colorful milk snake varieties around. Basically, the supermodel of the serpent world.
