Alana Florencio-Wain

Alana is excited to join the wonderful team at Riverbend Environemntal Education Center as an Environmental Education Fellow. She is passionate about environmental resiliency and creating access to the outdoors, seeing education as the foundation to building this reality. Recently, Alana graduated from Oberlin College with majors in Environmental Studies and Spanish along with a concentration in Food Studies. During her time at Oberlin, she co-founded a Latinx community garden focused on growing culturally significant foods and promoting food justice. After graduating, she developed a zero waste curriculum which includes a cookbook! This connects to her hobbies as she loves to cook, read, swim, and take care of her houseplants. Growing up, the experiences outdoors she had with her family, community, and mentors are what nurtured her dedication to our environment. She hopes to make a positive impact sharing and learning alongside the next generation.
