Girl Scouts
Girl Scouts of the USA stress the development of important qualities including leadership, strong values and social conscience. Riverbend's Girl Scout programs combine an array of fun hands-on activities to help them add environmental awareness to the list.
Brownies
Our programs are geared toward helping your Brownies have a positive experience in nature. You can choose from Badge Try-It's, Campfire Socials, Big Red Barn Overnights, Night Hikes and Service Days. Whether it's through making a s'more for the first time or catching a frog at our pond, your Brownies will experience the delight of being outside!
Brownie Try-Its
- Eco-Explorer
Ecology is the study of how living and non-living work together in the environment. This high-energy program introduces concepts like habitat and food chain through a fun blend of outdoor exploration, nature crafts and a scavenger hunt.
- Watching Wildlife
In this Try-It program, your scouts will observe wiggly worms, inspect nests, learn the songs of local birds, and meet some animals in our live collection.
- Water Everywhere
Brownies learn the importance of water to all living things in this wet and wild program. We will visit the pond and stream in search of insects, frogs, crayfish, newts and more!
- Earth and Sky
From the sky above to the dirt beneath our feet, there is a lot to be learned about nature in this exciting program. Brownies will dig in the dirt, watch clouds, and look for birds and other flying animals in this fun outdoor program.
Junior
Confidence-building through exploration is a part of being a Junior Girl Scout. Riverbend's badge programs will help Juniors develop their knowledge of the outdoors through wildlife study & identification, outdoor exploration and nature crafts.
Junior Badges
- Earth Connections
By performing soil studies, reading tree rings and participating in a high-energy eco-game, scouts will learn the basic premise that everything in nature is connected through the web of life.
- Wildlife
After participating in this lively wildlife exploration, scouts will be able to identify a nuthatch, define the difference between a reptile and an amphibian and much, much more!
- Rocks Rock
Learning about geology is a great way to connect scouts to the natural world. Scouts will explore the wonderful world of geology, through rock hunts, hands-on activities to explore the rock cycle, and much more.
